Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger Award

So I’ve been blogging for about three weeks now and I’ve already been noticed for the Sunshine Blogger Award which makes me pretty chuffed. So, I’d like to thank Anna Shepherd for the nomination!

Do go and check out Anna’s blog – there’s some great and honest beauty product reviews on there amongst all the other fab content she’s written.

Here’s the questions Anna asked me to answer with my responses-

1. What are the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made?

The best – okay this is really basic but my eyelash curler! My eyelashes look completely different after they’ve been curled and it saves me wearing fake eyelashes (which I have never mastered).

The worst – nothing springs to mind as being an obvious poor purchase but once I bought a dress online and when it came I tried it on and loved it; I thought it fit perfectly. It was very dressy and I bought it in the sale so I put it away for my next party. When I came to it and I put it on I was so surprised I ever thought it was a good idea to buy it! It looked awful – the fit was all wrong. I don’t know whether my shape and size changed within that short period of time but I was definitely gutted it was too late to return it!

2. When you were younger, what is something bad that you did but nobody ever found out it was you?

This is a tricky one! I was such a goody-two-shoes and so innocent as a kid. There’s nothing I can think of so many years on although there was probably something at the time, even if it was minor.

3. What quote or saying do people spout but is actually a bunch of rubbish?

I hate it when people are like: “ah well, it is what it is.” It just seems like they’re accepting defeat and they’re backing down if things don’t quite go to plan. It’s like they’ll quite happily sit back and settle for bare minimum. I don’t know, I suppose it depends on the way you interpret it, but to me it just doesn’t seem like a positive quote with motivation or drive to do well and do better.

4. What ridiculous thing has someone is tricked you into doing or believing?

I’m the most gullible person sometimes so tricking me into doing or believing stupid things isn’t hard at all so when it happens it isn’t really a big deal and I never remember it. I think the funniest was one time I was out somewhere (I can’t remember where exactly) when one of my friends said: “gullible” is written on the ceiling!” In my defence they said it rather quickly and I didn’t catch the full sentence so I looked up! The funniest thing was someone had actually managed to write “gullible” on the ceiling. I guess I didn’t look so stupid after all.

5. If you could only choose three makeup products for the rest of your life what would they be?

This is easy! Lipstick (I’m never without it), foundation (I like the coverage because my cheeks are very rosy) and highlighter (I love the glow)!

6. What is your dream job?

Would it be too clichéd to say “a content creator”?!  In all seriousness, I’d love a job that involves writing and being creative! I’d love to do something that involves working with others and helping others though. As a part-time job I work for a company that tutors children outside of school time and walking away after every shift knowing you’ve helped someone (even in just the smallest of ways) is so rewarding. Oh and I’d also love to have my own business…there’s too much choice!

7. What is your nightmare job?

Something that involves being medically trained as I’m so squeamish! I faint at the sight of blood or anything gory and cannot stand needles so that’d be my worst nightmare! I wish I wasn’t though as being the likes of a surgeon must be very rewarding at times.

8. What is your blogging pet peeve?

When people are in it for the money! I haven’t been blogging long at all but to me it seems it won’t work based on motivation for money. You have to do it for the love of writing and creativity surely!

9. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I haven’t been a member of the blogging community for long but there’s a few things I love about it. I love the positivity and the support from fellow bloggers! It’s so nice when you receive good feedback from a post too – even if from just one person – it feels so good to know someone enjoyed your post and read what you had to say. I love the freedom of being able to write anything I want and share it with everyone too. It feels good to be in control of my content.

10. Do you feel like five year plans work?

It depends. It’s always good to have a goal or an aim to work towards; it keeps you motivated and driven and personally if I set a goal then I want to go above and beyond it. That said, you have to allow for changes. I can’t even stick to a revision timetable because I end up making plans that disrupt it! So I’d have to say yes I suppose they do work, as long as they are doable and allow room for change that is often out of your hands.

11. Your go to meal is…?

It has to be pasta! I don’t think I ever make the same pasta dish twice though because I throw all sorts in – peppers, onions, garlic, chillis…I raid the cupboards! Basil pesto and feta cheese is my favourite though!

  1. Great post and congratulations. I am one of those that says it is what it is. For me it is not a lack of drive or accepting defeat but accepting the things in which I can not change. Have no control over. Not letting myself get caught up in those things. Moving on and being positive in spite of it. In many cases you are dealt things in life you can not necessarily change. As an example I have MS. I can not change that. It is what it is. I have accepted that. It doesn’t mean that I have given up. I have just accepted that this is a part of my life.
I can see where you are coming from as well and many people take it that way. As you said it depends how you interpret it. 🙂
